We’re looking for the most horrifying, poorly maintained, discolored, and damaged monster still rattling its last breaths through your home’s ducts and vents. What is the Ugliest HVAC Contest?
Florida is hard on your HVAC system. The humid seaside air, the constant heat, the moody temperature swings in the spring and fall, and the abundant wildlife all create an environment that can really wear on a system. The rust alone can become the stuff of nightmares, much less the growth of mold, moss, and who knows what else that can form on outdoor units and even unmaintained indoor units.
And yet, they still rattle along. Not to mention that Florida has its fair share of independently minded property owners who would rather slap some duct tape on it (or worse, clinching a beer can over it) instead of calling for professional repairs. As the repair team that eventually gets called, we’ve seen it all.

How to Enter the Contest
Entering the Ugliest HVAC Contest is easy and might even be fun. Especially if you’ve been dying to tell someone about the smells, sounds, and creepy damage of the looming horror that cools your home. Joining the contest can be done in three simple steps.
All you must do is fill out the form, tell why your HVAC is the ugliest, and consider sending in a photo of the monster.

- Describe Your HVAC Horror
- Tell us in two sentences what makes your HVAC truly horrifying. It’s about more than just looks. You can also tell us about the night screeching, the death rattles, and the carnal smell it emits that makes it the ugliest in all of Florida.
- Snap a Terrifying Photo
- Optional to your entry is a photo to show off the ugliness in all its glory. Photograph your outdoor unit in the sunlight or use the flash to capture the gory details of the unit hidden in your utility closet. Show us the rust, the terrifying DIY repairs, the mysterious growths, and the creepy puddles that make your HVAC unit uniquely awful.
